EFFECT OF SELF-EFFICACY OF LIBRARIANS ON THEIR ATTITUDE TOWARDS KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

Objectives: The objective of current research is to examine librarian’s attitude towards knowledge management. Personal attribute of Self-efficacy is to examine in the knowledge management perspective in Punjab Government urban locale. Regression is to compute between self-efficacy and librarian’s attitude towards knowledge management.

Research Questions: What is the level of self-efficacy of special librarians? What is the level of attitude of special librarians towards knowledge management? What is the effect of self-efficacy of librarians on their attitude towards knowledge management?

Methodology/design/approach: It was a quantitative research. Closed-ended questionnaire survey was deployed with slightly updated scales. Special librarians of Punjab Govt. were the target population. Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Jhelum, Vihari, Sialkot and Gujrat are large and more urban cities of Punjab thus, special librarians working under Government of Punjab umbrella were the accessible population. Questionnaires were sent to 90 librarians in mentioned 11 cities, 36 (40%) special librarians responded the questionnaire. Statistical methods of simple linear regression were used to analyze the data through statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Self-efficacy and attitude towards KM were the examined variables.

Problem Statement: This research is about effect of self-efficacy of librarian on their attitude towards knowledge management in Government of the Punjab. Contributions of self-efficacy in knowledge management are discussed in this study. More, the subsequent effect of self-efficacy on attitude about knowledge management in Punjab Govt. special libraries is deliberated. This study demonstrates the relationship features to self-efficacy and their forward effects on knowledge management. It is useful to understand the librarian’s performance at working place. This research explains the personality characteristic for knowledge management applications with special concern to librarianship and its contribution to the advancement of information and knowledge opportunities in Pakistan.
